>
> | Rule | What it asks | How Argus Archive helps |
> |---|---|---|
> | MiFID II | Record calls that lead or may lead to a trade, and keep them for 5 years (7 if the regulator asks) | Records by policy, keeps each record for as long as its rule says |
> | FCA (SYSC 10A) | The same duty for UK firms | Records by policy, keeps each record for as long as its rule says |
> | FINRA 3110 | Supervise business communications | Alerts with an owner and a status, retention by rule |
> | CFTC 1.35 | Keep oral communications about trades for at least a year | Records by policy, retention by rule |
> | MAR (Article 11) | Keep records of market soundings for at least 5 years | Records by policy, legal hold, cases |
> | GDPR | Keep personal data no longer than needed, and answer access requests | Automatic deletion, role-based access, audit trail |

> ## Every regulated call captured
>
> Recording follows your platform's recording policy, such as a Microsoft Teams compliance recording policy, for the users and groups you choose, with nothing for them to press and no way to switch it off.
>
> - **Phone calls** to and from outside numbers
> - **Internal calls** between colleagues
> - **Meetings**, internal and external
> - **Call queues** answered by your agents
> - **Video and screen share**, chosen for each type of call
> - **Strict recording** on Microsoft Teams, so a call can't go ahead without the recorder

>
> ### How is it different from built-in recording?
> Built-in recording, such as Microsoft Teams recording, is started by people and stored for collaboration. Compliance recording is enforced by policy, can't be stopped by users, and is kept in a secure archive with retention and legal hold.
>
> [Full comparison](/integrations/microsoft-teams/#argus-archive-vs-microsoft-teams-recording-and-copilot)
>
> ### Do we still need this if we use Microsoft Purview?
> Yes, they do different jobs. Purview applies retention and compliance rules to what Microsoft 365 already stores, such as chats and the meeting recordings people choose to start. It does not record calls on its own. Argus Archive records calls and meetings by policy and keeps them in one archive with retention, legal hold and review.
>
> ### How long are records kept?
> As long as each rule requires, up to 10 years. Records are deleted automatically when their time ends, unless they are on legal hold.
>
> ### How long does setup take?
> There are no servers to install. Your IT admin signs in with their Microsoft work account, and Argus guides them through connecting your communication platform, such as turning on Microsoft Teams compliance recording.
>
> ### How much does it cost?
> Argus Archive is priced per user, per month, with usage included, and you're warned before you go over.
